Next, they will compete for a place in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Throughout next year, the matches will be spread out until the teams are narrowed down. The three runners-up for each group will qualify.

The playoffs for the World Cup will start in March 2022. Meanwhile, these teams will compete starting March 24, and the group stage will end November 16.  Then, the World Cup will begin on November 2022 in Qatar. This will be the last year for the 32-team format of the tournament. The next FIFA World Cup will have 48 teams in 2026.
